Artisan alternative: Re:Shark vs Artisan

Artisan's AI BDR runs autonomously by default and its prices are on request. Re:Shark lets you choose per campaign how much Kai does, publishes its prices, and includes Dutch company data, domains, mailboxes and EU sending in one plan price.

Why teams choose Re:Shark

Re:Shark gives you an AI colleague you stay in charge of. You choose per campaign whether Kai prepares and you approve, or works on his own within your rules. The prices are on the page, you can start a 7-day trial today, and your data and sending stay in the EU with a Dutch company that can also run the campaigns for you.

Why teams look for an Artisan alternative

Artisan is a US company whose AI BDR, Ava, “finds leads, enriches them, sends personalized messages, and books meetings on behalf of your reps”. Artisan describes her as “autonomous by default, adjustable by design”. You can switch on approvals, lock tone and calls to action, set banned phrases and escalation rules, but the starting point is an AI that acts on its own.

Two other things stand out when you evaluate it. Artisan doesn’t publish prices: its Team, Scale and Enterprise plans each say “Talk to sales”, and are sized to lead volume, mailboxes and dialer seats. And its pricing page lists no trial terms, so you get to see the product through a sales process. Its servers are in the United States.

For a Dutch team that wants to know what it pays, try the product itself and keep a hand on what goes out under its name, that is a lot to accept up front.

What Re:Shark does differently

Re:Shark is built around Kai, an AI colleague who does the research and the writing, with you deciding how far he goes.

Say you sell to logistics companies around Rotterdam. You tell Kai. He finds them in Reef, checks which ones fit, finds the right contact and verifies the address, researches each company and writes a personalised sequence. You review it and approve the launch. The mail goes out from domains and mailboxes that are already set up on our own EU mail servers. When replies come in, Kai reads them and drafts a response.

Enrichment fills in missing details from multiple sources, and every research answer shows its source, such as the excerpt from the company’s website. You can check any line before it is sent.

Control, per campaign

This is where the two differ most. Ava starts autonomous and you add the brakes. Kai lets you choose the mode for each campaign:

  • Manual: you build every step.
  • Copilot: Kai prepares the next step and you decide.
  • Autopilot: Kai works within your rules.

In Manual and Copilot nothing is sent without your approval, and in every mode you approve the launch. Kai sends a reply himself only if you authorise him. So you can run a cautious campaign to a list of key accounts next to an Autopilot campaign for a broader market, in the same account. Our article on AI SDRs (in Dutch) explains why we recommend starting with more control and handing over step by step.

What you actually pay

Artisan’s prices are on request, so there is no total to calculate from its site. As of September 2026 its pricing page shows Team for about 2,500 leads contacted a month, Scale for about 6,000, and Enterprise custom, with onboarding and customer success support included. The AI dialer is an add-on per seat.

Re:Shark’s prices are public, and users come with the plan instead of being bought per seat. Plug & Play is €395 a month excl. VAT (€345 billed quarterly, €295 annually) with 1 user, 2,000 credits and a domain with up to 10 mailboxes. Growth is €695 (€645, €595) with 3 users, 7,500 credits and 2 domains with up to 20 mailboxes each. Enterprise is €995 (€945, €895) with 5 or more users, 30,000 credits and 4 domains with up to 20 mailboxes each. About 13 credits per prospect covers finding and verifying the address, checking fit and writing the sequence; that is indicative, and a search that finds no address is refunded. Top-up packs are available.

Want it run for you? Our team does that at €70 an hour excl. VAT. Ten hours a month on Plug & Play, billed monthly, comes to €395 + €700 = €1,095 a month excl. VAT, and you know that number before you start.

Built for the Dutch market

Re:Shark is a Dutch company, The Ocean B.V. Data is stored and processed in the EU under the GDPR, and your mail goes out from our own EU mail servers. Artisan’s privacy policy says its servers are in the United States, with transfers from the EU under Standard Contractual Clauses. Reef is built around Dutch companies, so Kai works from data about the market you actually sell to. Whoever writes it, every mail should come from a recognisable sender and include an opt-out. More in our article on GDPR and B2B data (in Dutch).

Re:Shark also has an MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor.

Switching from Artisan

Allow two to three weeks of warm-up for a new domain; we handle it. If you’d rather not run the campaigns yourself, our team can run them at €70 an hour excl. VAT.
