Clay alternative: Re:Shark vs Clay

Clay is a toolkit you build your outbound in: tables, actions, credits, data providers and a separate sending setup. Re:Shark works out of the box. Kai does the building, and data, domains, mailboxes and sending are in one plan price.

Why teams choose Re:Shark

With Re:Shark you don't build outbound, you run it. Kai finds the right Dutch companies, researches them and writes the personalised sequence, and the mail goes out from domains and mailboxes that are already set up on our EU servers. One plan price with users, credits, domains and mailboxes included, and you can start today without designing a single table.

Why teams look for a Clay alternative

Clay is a powerful toolkit. It combines a data marketplace with more than 200 data and AI vendors, AI research agents, workflow orchestration, an email sequencer and ad audiences. It is built for people who like to build: “GTM engineers”, in Clay’s own words.

That is also what you sign up for. In Clay you work in tables. Every column is an enrichment, an AI prompt or a function. You choose which providers to query and in which order, you write the prompts that do the personalisation, and you keep an eye on two meters: actions for the work the platform does and data credits for the data you pull. Sending is its own piece: Clay’s sequencer or a separate sequencing tool, with domains and inboxes bought inside Clay on the Growth plan.

For a team with a GTM engineer that is freedom. For a team that simply wants the right companies in its inbox, it is a project before the first mail goes out, and workflows that someone has to maintain afterwards.

What Re:Shark does differently

Re:Shark works out of the box. Kai, our AI colleague, does the building for you.

Say you sell to installation companies in Brabant with 20 to 100 employees. You tell Kai that. He looks them up in Reef, checks which ones fit, finds the right contact and verifies the address, researches each company and writes a personalised sequence. You review it, approve the launch, and it goes out from domains and mailboxes that are already set up. When replies come in, Kai reads them and drafts a response.

You decide per campaign how much he does alone. Manual: you build every step. Copilot: Kai prepares the next step and you decide. Autopilot: Kai works within your rules. In Manual and Copilot nothing is sent without your approval, and Kai only sends a reply himself if you authorise him.

No tables, no waterfalls, no prompts to maintain. About 13 credits per prospect covers finding and verifying the address, checking fit and writing the sequence, and a search that finds no address is refunded.

Data you don’t have to assemble

Clay gives you access to many providers and leaves the combining to you. Re:Shark starts from Reef, our own database built around Dutch companies. Reef shows what a company does, where it operates and how its team is structured, which is exactly what you need to decide whether it fits and what to say.

Enrichment fills in missing details from multiple sources, and every research answer shows the source it is based on, such as the excerpt from the company’s own website. You see why Kai wrote what he wrote.

What you actually pay

Clay prices by usage. As of September 2026 its pricing page lists Free at $0, Launch from $185 a month and Growth from $495 a month ($167 and $446 billed annually), and Enterprise on request, all with unlimited seats. Actions measure platform work; data credits start at $0.05 each.

To buy domains and inboxes for the Clay sequencer you need Growth, so sending from Clay starts at $495 a month ($446 billed annually), before the domains and inboxes themselves and before any data credits beyond your plan. And someone still has to build the workflow.

Re:Shark prices per plan, with everything in it. Plug & Play is €395 a month excl. VAT (€345 billed quarterly, €295 annually) with 1 user, 2,000 credits and a domain with up to 10 mailboxes. Growth is €695 (€645, €595) with 3 users, 7,500 credits and 2 domains with up to 20 mailboxes each. Enterprise is €995 (€945, €895) with 5 or more users, 30,000 credits and 4 domains with up to 20 mailboxes each. Users, Kai and the sending infrastructure are included in that price, and top-up packs are available.

Frequently asked questions

Is Re:Shark a good alternative to Clay?

What does Clay really cost compared to Re:Shark?

Buying domains and inboxes inside Clay requires the Growth plan: from $495 a month, or $446 billed annually. The domains and inboxes themselves come on top, and data beyond your plan is paid in data credits from $0.05 each. Re:Shark Plug & Play is €395 a month excl. VAT (€345 billed quarterly, €295 annually) and already includes Kai, 1 user, 2,000 credits, a domain with up to 10 mailboxes and the sending infrastructure.
