Outsider.i is the photographic practice of Amsterdam-based photographer Isabell Janssen.

Having spent much of her life adapting to new environments, cities and communities, Isabell developed photography as a way to connect, observe and better understand the people and places around her. This perspective continues to shape her work today.

Working across editorial and commercial photography, she combines documentary sensitivity with editorial precision, creating thoughtful imagery that feels authentic, considered and alive. Her approach is rooted in curiosity, collaboration and a genuine interest in the stories people carry.

Isabell is particularly drawn to narratives around identity, representation and belonging, often within the context of community. Through her work, she aims to embrace complexity, celebrate joy and spark curiosity, creating space for people to be seen as they are.
