About Maria Hermes Photography

Maria Hermes works and lives in Amsterdam. As a documentary and portrait photographer she specializes in longterm, personal projects. In 2008 she published her first photobook: The Cutting Edge. Her photos appeared in newspapers and magazines and at (international) exhibitions and she won several prizes. She is represented by photo agency De Beeldunie and she is chairwoman of the board at the Dutch Association of Photojournalists. She also writes articles on photography and archives and she works on historical projects in the form of books and exhibitions. In 2018 she will publish her latest photobook, Mater Maya, about the magnificence and the misery of becoming a mother.
