Werner Dijkerman is a freelance Cloud Infrastructure and Platform Engineering consultancy based in the Netherlands, with 20+ years of hands-on experience helping organizations build reliable, automated, and cost-efficient cloud platforms on AWS. CKA and CKAD certified, technical reviewer for O'Reilly, Manning, and Packt, and active open-source contributor. I work with startups, scale-ups, and enterprises across utilities, fintech, and SaaS, typically as an extra senior pair of hands, a fractional platform lead, or a second opinion on architecture and tooling decisions.

Core focus areas: Cloud platforms on AWS and Azure: greenfield setups, migrations, cost optimization, security hardening, and well-architected reviews. Kubernetes and GitOps: cluster design and day-2 operations on EKS, AKS, and ECK, with Argo CD, Helm, Sealed Secrets, and External Secrets. Infrastructure as Code: Terraform modules and Ansible playbooks for reproducible, auditable environments. Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Zabbix, and Wazuh, plus alerting that engineers actually want to be on call for. CI/CD: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, and Argo CD pipelines tuned for speed and safety. Scripting and automation: Bash, Python, and Go for platform tooling, operators, and the glue between systems. Technical reviews and second opinions: architecture reviews, code audits, and short workshops to level up your team.

My approach is pragmatic, security-aware, and GitOps-minded: if your sh*t isn't in Git, it doesn't exist. I prefer simple, well-documented infrastructure over clever-but-fragile setups, and I leave clients with platforms their own teams can confidently own.
