About VitalWear

VitalWear uses optical fiber sensing technology to non-invasively monitor vital parameters for various medical applications towards the early detection, prevention and treatment of diseases. VitalWear's photonic measurement technology will be integrated into textiles such as bed sheets, mattress covers or clothing, which enables continuous patient monitoring with the highest possible comfort.

VitalWear's first application focus is the early detection of pressure ulcers via the continuous and autonomous monitoring of pressure and temperature with the VitalWear sensor sheets. VitalWear's non-invasive monitoring solution informs the nurses when a patient needs attention, so that the formation of a pressure ulcer can still be avoided. This will lead to a reduction in pressure ulcer incidences. The VitalWear solution will also indicate for which patients no intervention is necessary due to a low risk level - in those cases the nurses can save some of their precious time and the patients do not need to be disturbed, especially at night.
