As global food demand is rising, our current forms of food production are facing major challenges. Whether in animal production or aquaculture, new protein sources, such as insects, are quickly becoming sustainable alternatives for the classic protein sources. To meet this demand, insect growers must be enabled to produce competitively and at a larger scale.

VDL Insect Systems offers the technology and equipment to solve production challenges for the insect sector. Our solutions range from engineering support for upscaling, components and complete systems for feedstock reception, preparation, storage and transport, reproduction breeding, rearing and processing to end-products.

The broad network and industry activities of VDL contribute actively to the industrialization of the insect sector, by linking the insect production to the growing demand for sustainable proteins for the poultry, aquaculture, pet food and food industries.
