Since 1898, Van Bodegraven Elektromotoren B.V. has supported marine and industrial customers with electric motor supply, repair, overhaul, retrofit and replacement engineering. Now in the fifth generation, headquartered in Dordrecht (NL), with offices in Piraeus (GR), stock in Singapore and Shanghai, and a UK agent.

We are not a standard motor supplier: we are a one-stop-shop for the complete drivetrain: motor, variable frequency drive, engineering and in-house revision, under one roof.

As ABB Authorized Value Provider since 1993, we offer ~2,989 ABB motor types including M2BAX, M3BP, M3AA, ATEX, SynRM IE5/IE6 and water-cooled variants. Alongside ABB, we build our own ranges: Dormot Holland (Pro / Core / Renew) and Trident submersible motors up to 7,000 kW for the dredging industry.

Retrofit and efficiency upgrades are core to what we do. From a single IE3→IE5 motor swap (payback typically 18–24 months) up to plant- or fleet-wide IE-class upgrades, we deliver TCO analysis, motor selection, installation support and EU EcoDesign / IE-mandate compliance.

Motors and VFDs are never supplied as loose components. ABB ACS and Yilmaz drives ship as matched motor + VFD sets with EMC filter selection, sizing review and commissioning included.

Our in-house workshop in Dordrecht supports customers with:

• Motor repair, overhaul and rewinding • Gearbox & pump overhaul • Like-for-like replacement engineering • Shaft and flange modifications, bearing and winding work • Marine coatings up to C5-M offshore (ISO 12944), IP-upgrades • ATEX and class-related work (BV, LR, DNV, ABS, RINA, ClassNK)

Marine focus: bow thruster motors up to 5,000 kW (stock / revised-as-new / new build), DC motors up to 1,500 kW, Trident underwater motors, pump and auxiliary drives, ATEX motors (Zone 1/2/21/22).

We help shipowners, superintendents, OEMs and industrial customers reduce downtime, replace difficult motors, upgrade efficiency and keep critical systems running.
