About VAAVG
Op 7 februari 2000 erkende Els Borst, de toenmalige minister van Volksgezondheid, het vakgebied Geneeskunde voor verstandelijk gehandicapten als een zelfstandig specialisme. In 2003 is de VAAVG opgericht, een vereniging die de belangen behartigt van Artsen voor Verstandelijk Gehandicapten (Arts VG) in opleiding. Momenteel zijn er 40-50 aios lid.
