About Urban Adapters
WHO ARE WE For years we have had the idea of starting a foundation focusing on resiliency, because of the challenges the islands of the former Dutch Caribbean and Suriname are facing many years and the need of a movement in this region on the topics of resilience.
So in July 2018 The Dutch Caribbean Resilient Societies Foundation was founded on Curaçao by Jamanika Consultancy Services Ltd. The islands of Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, St Maarten, Saba and St Eustatius and Suriname are our focus communities at this moment and “Urban Adapters” we will be using to develop and to coordinate projects in collaboration with stakeholders like universities, governments, private and government organizations, foundations, entrepreneurs, etc.
MISSION DCRSF aims to find and work on solutions, facing problems, threats and challenges as opportunities, to enhance the talents, creativity, knowledge we find in these seven societies. We work as a independent/ private entity. Our objective is helping the Dutch Caribbean Islands and Suriname become more resilient to physical, social and economic shocks and stresses, so that they will be able to maintain or even improve the level of quality and performance of their functions, structures, systems and identity.
VISION By investigating, localizing, recognizing and describing the strengths and vulnerabilities of these entities we can achieve a lot for the region. We do this in cooperation with strategical partners, both local and international, adding value, knowledge, experience, skills, data, funds, network, facilities, etc. PEOPLE, PLANET, PROFIT are central in all our ventures.
