About TU/e M AND CS Department Council

As Department Council, we are representing the people who work/study in this department. The task of the Department Council is to advise the Department Board and check the more influential decisions they make. For example, the Department Council can advise the board on the curriculum of educations, lack of office space, and other issues. Some decisions can even only be taken when the Department Council approves them. This is regulated by law.

The Department Council has monthly meetings, that are public. There are still working groups, they will report during the public meetings. Whenever necessary (for approval, advice, or providing information), board members can join the monthly meetings. We hope to streamline the way the council works this way.

The Department Council is divided into six committees: Financial, Well Being, Education, Communication, Confidentiality and Governance Structure. Each committee is appointed for specific functions, performed by DC members. Together we commit our efforts to accomplishing the following tasks: A) Financial Committee: - Department Allocation Model - Spring Memorandum - Budget 2021

B) Well Being Committee: - Workload reduction plan - Work allocation policy - Student project housing - Housing

C) Education Committee: - PERs - Master DS&AI - Accreditation JADS Bachelor - Admittance Criteria (Toelatingscriteria) - Assessment policy (Toetsbeleid) - Selection Regulations and Caps

D) Communication Committee: - Update and improvement of the DC website - DC Facebook page - Poster template - Newsletters

E) Confidentiality Committee: - Handle confidential matters within the department, often involving gauging support for (re)appointing board members - Revise council’s regulations

F) Governance Structure Committee This committee looks after the propositions of a new governance structure from the board and also generates ideas for alternative plans.
