Transport systems are essential for societies to thrive under evolving socio-economic, technological, environmental and geo-political circumstances. At the Department of Transport & Planning we develop knowledge and tools for the design and management of transport infrastructure, networks, services and traffic operations by combining advanced modelling techniques with observational data. This enables us to advance our understanding, design and conduct innovative interventions and thereby ultimately improve the performance of multi-modal transport systems which constitute a critical civil engineering infrastructure. Our breadth of expertise across planning horizons, modes and techniques, alongside a long-standing culture of academic excellence, makes us uniquely positioned to educate transport engineers, perform pioneering research and improve the future of mobility in our society.
