About the Windtechnicians

Wind energy has been fully embraced as a sustainable form of energy and this is also noticeable in the province of Zeeland. A real market is developing, having an impact on the local community in terms of logistics, such as transport and installation of windmills offshore, and offering employment opportunities at the same time.

The Wind Technicians is a new company, focusing on offshore employment services. We started as a result of meetings organised by the HZ, Scalda, Zeeland Seaports and the province of Zeeland (Triple Helix). HZ acts, together with the Centre of Expertise Delta Technology, as the catalyst for this project. Wind at Sea (Wind op Zee) is an important part of the Centre of Expertise.

We will focus on recruiting, selecting and educating future staff for the offshore wind farms which will be installed along the coast of the province of Zeeland.

All above mentioned partners will participate. The past Triple Helix meetings have made it clear that at short notice there will be a demand from the management of wind farms for qualified maintenance staff and offshore wind turbine mechanics.

MBO educational institutions will prepare students for the relatively new profession of offshore wind mechanic. We will handle the recruitment of candidates, for example people who have been made redundant or are looking for a job change. The mechanics will be given a permanent contract by us and eventually will be seconded to the managers of the wind farms.
