About The European Trust Alliance

The European Trust Alliance (THETA) is a European initiative that brings together pioneering organisations working on the future of trust. From controlling dis- and misinformation, to re-establishing trust in information, from data governance to ethical AI, from secure digital infrastructures, to inclusive policy - THETA connects research, ideas, people, companies and institutions to ensure that trust becomes a shared European asset.

Focus areas: 1. Trust in News & Information - How do media organizations ensure reliable and transparent information provision, and how do they measure the extent to which they are trusted by the public? - What new models can support journalists and media in safeguarding trust? - How can we gain structural, nationwide insight into the status and impact of disinformation on social and other media?

2. Autonomous Media Companies / Data - How can citizens and entrepreneurs regain control over their data? - Which tools and models can support decentralized data management? - What tools and standards can be used to determine the authenticity and origin of content?

3. Applied Media Technology - What are the positive and negative effects of AI, immersive technologies, and game engines on trust? - How can (media) companies develop and apply these technologies to enhance reliability and transparency?

Our Mission: Combining knowledge and research to gain common insights and motivation and initiate innovative solutions that bring back trust in information, data and society.

THETA aims for broad collaboration with businesses, knowledge partners, governments, and citizens. THETA aspires to become a key partner in national and European innovation and research programs. The goal is not only to develop knowledge but also to translate it into concrete initiatives that contribute to a trustworthy digital society. THETA invites other parties to join and collaborate on building a future in which trust is the foundation of our information society.
