Part shop, part archive and a total treasure trove of vintage designer fashion, The Ceiling is curated with an appreciation for detail and a touch of sprezzatura.

The Ceiling was founded by Charon Cooijmans: former model who spent most of her spare time thrifting the finest vintage delights that Paris and New York had to offer. Back in Amsterdam, she created a destination where vintage fashion gems (the kind you’d only find after fervently digging or endlessly scrolling) can be savoured in an enticing shopping experience.

The Ceiling has grown into a digital and physical world (read: an e-commerce space and showroom) serving a curated selection of luxury vintage, as well as inspiration. Pieces are hand-picked with attention to quality, appreciation for detail and knowledge of fashion history.

A logical addition to The Ceiling Shop, The Ceiling Archive hosts hard-to-find vintage gems for research and inspiration, alongside creative consultation. Think of it as a fashion library, backed by a vintage-maven librarian.

The shop has always taken a multidisciplinary approach. To Charon Cooijmans, The Ceiling isn’t just about selling extraordinary vintage pieces, but about studying them, curating them, telling their stories and understanding their wearers. The Ceiling Archive takes that experience in sourcing, archiving and curating - as well as a wide network of connections, and offers it to the next generation of brands and individuals. The garments you’ll find here are for rent, analysis and inspiration. Creativity can be sourced from a single silhouette, ideas can be found in one surprising weave and a single detail can become an endless source of reference. Creative consultation services, such as buying, designing and visual storytelling, serve as an overlock thread between The Archive and its viewers.
