About The Aesthetic City

The Aesthetic City is a platform to promote the creation of beautiful, long lasting urban environments & buildings. We build more than ever, but we are not necessarily building to last - or to most people's tastes. Many modern urban environments are not designed to be beautiful, warm or human-centred; too often, architects and planners try to impose their distinctive artistic vision on the area instead, neglecting local history, materials, traditions and the opinions of surrounding inhabitants. Any traditional or classical approaches are instantaneously rejected as out-dated and pastiche, while those might yield results that are overwhelmingly favourable in the public eye - and often lead to more pleasing & long lasting results.

The Aesthetic City aims to create content to promote a healthier, more inclusive look on how we build our urban environments - with more regard to local history & culture, local materials, craftsmanship and the rich history and many potential uses & solutions offered by traditional and classical architecture.
