Enhanced with the integration between TeamSTEPPS and medical leadership development programs, TeamSHOPP was positioned as ‘best practice’ by the Dutch Healthcare Inspectorate (IGZ Report, page 27). TeamSHOPP has been implemented across various Dutch healthcare organizations, varying from interdisciplinary care for elderly to high-risk academic surgical care.

Featuring in far over 100 scientific publications the training curriculum ‘TeamSTEPPS™’ has become one of the most successful toolkits that facilitates interdisciplinary teams across the health and social care domains in sustainably increasing team performance and patient safety. Originally developed within the collaboration between the USA Department of Defence (DoD) and the American Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), TeamSTEPPS was introduced in Europe for the first time in the Netherlands under ‘TeamSHOPP’.
