About Sustainable Fine Art by Elma Hogeboom
Elma Hogeboom, a doctoral candidate at the School of Traditional Arts, explores the concept of Paradise through her artistic practice. She crafts her works using local, non-toxic materials, capturing Paradise in the present moment. Using her garden as an inspiration for Paradise 'here and now', as well as a source of materials, she uses hand-foraged cherry gum, local honey, rose water, saffron, and rose oil, making her handmade paints both fragrant and vibrant. Thus, her practice aims at harmonizing the divine and earthly, merging the essence of Paradise with her art.
