De zebra staat daarom bekend als symbool voor zeldzame ziekten en zeldzame aandoeningen, zoals afweerstoornissen.

SAS (stichting voor afweerstoornissen) zet zich in voor mensen met een afweerstoornis/primaire immuundeficiëntie en hun familie, vrienden en medisch onderzoek.

SAS wordt. ondersteund door een medische advies raad, zodat onze medische informatie verantwoord is.

Afweerstoornissen komen wereldwijd voor, SAS is daarom aangesloten bij IPOPI: international patient organisation for primary immunodeficiencies.
