About Stichting Praemium Erasmianum

De Stichting Praemium Erasmianum is in 1958 opgericht door ZKH Prins Bernhard der Nederlanden. Het is een culturele instelling die actief is op het gebied van de geesteswetenschappen, de sociale wetenschappen en de kunsten. De Stichting kent jaarlijks de Erasmusprijs toe en organiseert culturele en wetenschappelijke activiteiten rond de prijsuitreiking. Het bestuur bestaat uit ongeveer twintig leden, afkomstig uit culturele, wetenschappelijke en zakelijke kringen in Nederland. Zijne Majesteit de Koning is Regent van de Stichting.

The Praemium Erasmianum is a cultural institution active in the fields of humanities, social sciences and the arts. It was founded in 1958 by Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands. The Foundation awards the annual Erasmus Prize and organises cultural and academic activities around the award ceremony. The Foundation is motivated by the cultural traditions of Europe and the ideas of Erasmus.
