The NGO “Fondation Aide Dentaire Afrique” (fADA) of the Netherlands has been working since 1991 on the improvement of the oral health situation of the population of Rwanda, along three major lines of action:

1) internships and education of Rwandan professionals in a special-purpose dental clinic, starting in Nyundo; since 2004 based in Nyarutarama, Kigali; 2) creation of a Rwandan counterpart association “Aide Dentaire Afrique-Rwanda” (ADA) who executes the policies and projects of fADA in Rwanda, a.o. the management of the clinic in Nyarutarama, and 3) quality treatment of patients (over 25,000 in the last 10 years), with emphasis on the lower income groups. Treatments vary from elementary extractions to complex dental surgery and complicated restaurative treatment.
