About Stichting Amigos de San Juan de Flores

Amigos de San Juan de Flores is a foundation that supports the development of the villagers of San Juan de Flores and several other small villages in Guatemala. This support is given in small-scaled and specific projects. These projects can be realized relatively easy and with limited resources. The focus is on education, because we believe that this will enable the people to improve their own conditions. Concretely, this means that we provide scholarships to young people who want to take professional training or go to university. Furthermore, we organize sewing courses for women and we grant loans to villagers for setting up a small business of their own to increase their income. An additional advantage of this working method is that we can achieve results in the short term and that our benefactors can immediately see how their donations are spent.
