About StexFibers
"HEMP FIBERS for SUSTAINABLE HIGH QUALITY TEXTILES" Mission & Vision StexFibers will enter the extremely polluting textile industry with a clean and better alternative raw material. The market has a huge size ( 30 mio tons of cotton only), and the demand for sustainable alternatives is growing strongly; StexFibers has the potential to become an absolute game changer. Product StexFibers has developed a process for the production of textile fibers from industrial hemp. These fibers can be processed within the existing infrastructure of the textile chain. Important key features of hemp fiber are: - Sustainable: little water, no pesticides or chemicals are needed - Strong: very strong fibers with high wearing comfort (breathing) in clothing - Unique: features such as UV blocking and anti-fungal/bacterial - Easy Farming: can be grown almost anywhere with a high yield The product is also applicable in bio-degradable composites as alternative for e.g. glass fiber. Technique Steam explosion (STEX), a proven industrial technique, has found a new application in the production process of StexFibers, where the fiber bundles are unlocked and refined. With the current, small-scale installation, the product and process will be further developed. Market & Marketing We focus on the international market of industrial textile producers who can spin our fibers, and produce textiles for their customers. The existing infrastructure of the textile industry is mainly focused on cotton. With some of these multinational companies, agreements have been made to test our material. A strong ‘pull’ towards these companies exists via clothing brands and retail chains.
