About SITO

SITO (IT & Education) is a foundation that aims to enhance the understanding of the relationship between IT and education. Founded by Pieter van Nispen, author and an expert in Cultural Competence who has experience teaching in 40 countries spending the last 15 years teaching and researching internalisation and culture.

Our LinkedIn page offers information and exercises to improve your cultural competence. A competence is an integral combination of knowledge, skills and attitudes. Cultural competence then encompasses the required knowledge on culture and the ways and means of dealing with cultural differences, the necessary skills and the desirable attitudes.

We focus on culture in the wider sense of the word, the way of thinking and feeling of groups of people. Culture in the narrow sense of the word, the arts, may be considered as an expression of culture in that wider sense or an opposition to it.

We have developed a wide range of educational resources including a book, e-books, animated videos and online courses that you can explore in the below links and through interacting with our LinkedIn page.

We also welcome the debate on content; the debate on culture will never result in consensus!
