Sportclub Enschede is opgericht op 1 juni 1910. De club heeft een roemrijk verleden, waarin in 1926 haar grootste wapenfeit werd behaald, namelijk het binnenhalen van het algehele landskampioenschap van Nederland.

Deze prestatie werd in 2010 door FC Twente herhaald. FC Twente is opgericht in 1965 uit een fusie tussen de professionele voetbalafdelingen van Sportclub Enschede en Enschedese Boys.

Sportclub Enschede speelt op dit moment in de tweede klasse J van de zondagamateurs. De club heeft een ledental van ca. 600 leden.

De seniorentak neemt met 6 teams aan de competitie deel, waarvan 5 op zondag en 1 op zaterdag. De junioren afdeling neemt met 26 teams aan de competitie deel.
