Grenzend aan de Rotterdamse Regio en de Drechtsteden ligt de Hoeksche Waard, een van de twintig Nationale Landschappen van Nederland. Ingesloten tussen het Haringvliet, het Hollands Diep en de Oude Maas wordt in dit gebied onder het motto "Behoud door ontwikkeling" op een vijftal beleidsterreinen met elkaar samengewerkt.
