About PORIFARMA BV

Porifarma is a start-up company, founded in 2005, aiming to implement the promising applications of sponges into a profitable enterprise. Porifarma applies unique and innovative knowledge and technology to culture sponges on land (in aquaria) and in the ocean (mariculture), to supply customers with a high quality, sustainable, but affordable product. Porifarma’s CEO (Dr Ir Jasper de Goeij) and CSO (Dr Ronald Osinga) have many years of experience and knowledge on culture and physiology of sponges, production of secondary metabolites and ecology of aquatic ecosystems. Currently Porifarma employs technical manager/UW photographer Mert Gokalp, Phd student and junior researcher Brittany Alexander, Phd student.
