About PE AND RC PhD Council

The PE&RC PhD Council (PPC) represents PhD candidates across the Production Ecology and Resource Conservation Graduate School. Our council brings together PhD candidates from a wide range of institutes and scientific fields to ensure that their perspectives, needs, and experiences are represented. We advise the PE&RC PhD Programme coordinators, the PE&RC Board, and the various PE&RC Committees, both upon request and through our own initiatives.

The PPC provides a shared platform where issues affecting PhD candidates can be raised, discussed, and addressed. We support new candidates by maintaining a “Knowledge and Experience Base” and by coordinating the PE&RC Buddy System, which helps newcomers settle smoothly into the programme. We also organise the annual PE&RC Day, which brings the community together for scientific exchange, collaboration, and networking.

The council meets every six weeks, with programme coordinators regularly joining to maintain clear communication between PhD representatives and the graduate school leadership. The PPC includes several active committees, such as the Buddy System Committee, Education Committee, Social Events Committee, Career Committee, PhD Representatives Committee, Outreach Committee, and connections to the Wageningen Doctoral Council. Through these groups, we work to strengthen academic training, career development, community building, and communication within the PE&RC community.

We welcome questions, input, and concerns that reflect the experiences of PhD candidates in the programme. We also encourage motivated PhD candidates to join us and contribute to shaping a supportive, inclusive, and well-connected academic community.
