About Operations Research AND Logistics WUR

👋 Welcome to the Operations Research and Logistics Chair Group! We are a team of about 30 researchers and educators united by a common passion: optimizing the agri-food supply chain. We study material flows and operations within food and bio-based supply chains. Here are some questions that trigger us:

- Circular agri-food systems: What does the logistics of a circular agri-food supply chain look like? Where and at what scale do we produce our food? How does it reach the consumer? 🔄🍽️ - Reducing food waste in supermarkets: How can we ensure ample food on shelves while minimizing waste? 🛒🌱

Our approach is marked by an engineering orientation, where we develop quantitative tools to aid decision-making. This isn't just a technical pursuit; our goal is to make more sustainable, healthy, safe, and affordable products accessible to everyone. 🌍🔧 The significance of well-designed logistics chains became extremely evident during the challenges posed by COVID-19.

We cannot do it alone. Achieving our goal asks for strong collaboration. That's why we seek interaction with the business sector. Through engaging real life cases provided by our partners, our students are challenged to bring out the best in themselves in our courses, theses, and internships. Students are the leaders of tomorrow. We facilitate their learning so that they can make a difference. 🌱🎓
