About Multimedia Foundation Aard

AARD was founded in 2012 with the support of Rotterdam Theatre. In Dutch, "Aard" means human nature, and storytelling is deeply rooted in our humanity. Through storytelling, art can explore human nature and depict what escapes words. This idea drives the foundation’s focus—reviving lost, forgotten, or new narratives of cultural and existential significance, expressed through a personal and innovative artistic language. Originally, AARD aimed to support and create an independent platform for the work of Nataliya Golofastova, whose creations defied conventional categorization. Over time, The AARD Foundation evolved into a collaborative space for artists across various disciplines, all in search of new ways to tell meaningful stories. Think of experimental blends of performative arts and film, fine arts, visual-, sound- and light arts—or a combination of these—all with one purpose: to move emotionally, surprise, and provoke thought.
