Hardware product development is where most startups underestimate the complexity. It's also where getting it wrong is the most expensive. I'm Maarten van der Heide, founder of Momentum Labs Consulting. I've spent 20+ years shipping hardware across consumer electronics, connected devices, audio, and physical products, from early concept through production at scale. Before starting Momentum Labs, I held product and R&D leadership roles at companies including Sonos, Polaroid, Spinn, and Dott. I work with hardware founders and their teams who need senior product leadership without a full-time hire. That means helping you move faster, make better technical decisions, and build the team and processes to actually ship. I also work with investors who need an independent read on whether a hardware team can actually execute on what they're promising. The moments I care about most are the ones where the wrong call costs real money: moving from prototype to production, scaling a team under pressure, deciding what to build next and what to cut. That's where I step in.
