The consumer portal Mijnverzekeringenopeenrij.nl provided Dutch consumers one consolidated location to find all their insurance information at a glance, updated and secure online. All their policies from any insurance company were presented in an easy-to-use interface via one single overview page. 24/7. The portal was an initiative of the (Dutch) Association of Insurers, conducted by the foundation Stichting De Poliskluis, secure, independent, and non-commercial. Unfortunately Mijnverzekeringenopeenrij.nl ended May 1, 2019. Insurers had insufficient opportunities available to further develop the website into a fully-fledged service and to guarantee full coverage of available insurance policies.

Consumers registered for a free account. And identified themselves online. The final step was the policies of the user were found automatically. If not, users could add their insurances by entering their insurer and policy number. Whenever the user logged in the data were collected from his insurers’ databases. No insurance data were stored in Mijnverzekeringenopeenrij.nl but files and information uploaded by users could be stored in the portal. No one could see the data without the user wanting it. The user could authorize other persons (e.g. partner or family members) to see any of his insurances in their own accounts. The website offered consumers the opportunity to send personal data to their insurers. Of course a machine readable pdf file with all available data could be sent by e-mail or downloaded, for personal use or for third parties such as financial advisers.
