About Matt Jackson Studios

Matt Jackson is a puppet and mask-maker for film, theatre, and the fine arts with 20 years of experience. Personal research is in the use of organic/non-toxic materials and methods. An awareness of sustainability in the construction process also leads to him working with “found-objects” that inspire the element of surprise in the design process. His creations are used by the “bunraku” master puppeteer Kanroku in Osaka; the Ulrike Quade Company in Amsterdam; Jean Louis Heckel/La-Nef in Paris, and many more. Matt regularly hosts professional courses in fabrication at his studio in The Netherlands, and has also taught at l’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette (ESNAM. Charleville-Mézières, France); Le Centre de la Marionnette (Tournai, Belgium), and the Central School of Speech and Drama (London, UK).
