Most Martech problems aren't really technology problems. They're organizational ones wearing a technology disguise. The stack looks wrong, the data looks messy, the CDP isn't delivering what the vendor promised. Usually the tools aren't the issue. The issue is that nobody agreed on what they were supposed to do before the contract was signed.

Martech Therapy exists for that moment. When the gap between what was promised and what's actually happening becomes impossible to ignore, and someone needs to come in and be honest about why.

The work takes different forms depending on what's needed. Fractional Head of Martech engagements for teams that need senior leadership without a permanent hire. CDP assessments that cut through vendor positioning to tell you what's actually working and what isn't. RFP and vendor selection support that stays genuinely independent, no referral arrangements, no preferred partners. And strategy work for organisations that know they need to change direction but aren't sure yet where to point.

The through-line across all of it is the same question: is your Martech working for the business, or is the business working around your Martech?

With over 20 years across vendor, agency, brand, and independent contracting, I've watched customer data evolve from a compliance concern into one of the most strategically significant capabilities an organisation can build. I've also watched a lot of organisations build it badly, usually not because of the technology they chose, but because of the readiness work they skipped.

Beyond client work, I write on Ghost, publish frameworks, and host the Couch Confidentials podcast, where the subject is always the same in some form: why does Martech keep failing smart people, and what would have to change for it to stop.
