In de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd veel componisten het zwijgen opgelegd vanwege hun Joodse afkomst of omdat ze in het verzet zaten. Hun muziek werd verboden. De Leo Smit Stichting doet onderzoek, vertelt over vervolgde, verboden en vermoorde componisten en maakt hun muziek toegankelijk. Samen met musici, programmeurs, onderzoekers en luisteraars laten we muziek van deze componisten weer klinken en geven hen daarmee hun rechtmatige plaats in de muziekgeschiedenis terug.

During the Second World War, many composers were silenced because of their Jewish origins or because they were in the resistance. Their music was banned. The Leo Smit Foundation conducts research, tells about persecuted, banned and murdered composers and makes their music accessible. Together with musicians, programmers, researchers and listeners, we let the music of these composers sound again and thus give them back their rightful place in music history.
