Eind 2019 veroverde Leeuwarden de - blijvende - titel UNESCO City of Literature. De stad én de provincie Fryslân maken hiermee deel uit van het wereldwijde netwerk van ‘Creative cities’.
Leeuwarden UNESCO City of Literature stimuleert op verschillende manieren het schrijf- en leesklimaat in Fryslân. De hoofdingrediënten zijn daarbij: professionalisering, internationalisering, leesbevordering en innovatie. Daarnaast dragen we inhoudelijk bij aan triënnale Arcadia van LF2028.
