About Land Portal Foundation
Improving Land Governance and Securing Land Rights for Landless and Vulnerable People VISION Improving land governance to benefit those with the most insecure land rights and the greatest vulnerability to landlessness through information and knowledge sharing. GOAL Becoming the leading online destination for information, resources, innovations and networking on land issues. Supporting inclusive and informed debate and action on land governance will increase the adoption and the scaling up of of best practices and emerging innovations on land tenure. The Land Portal is an Independent & Inclusive Information Service - The Land Portal allows for the collection, sourcing, and searching of otherwise fragmented and inaccessible data and information on land governance and land use from diverse sources, produced by governments, academia, international organizations, indigenous peoples and NGOs. It is a pioneering hub for ‘linked open data’ on land enabling to publish structured data in machine readable, standardized formats under open licenses that can be reused by anyone. A Collaborative Network of Partners - The Land Portal brings together content from hundreds of sources. In addition to documenting land rights, the Land Portal encourages social information exchange, debate and networking. By combining public data, published information, and first-hand knowledge, the Land Portal has built a strong foundation as the leading online destination for land information.
