About Kentalis International Foundation

Kentalis International Foundation works on enhancing inclusive deaf education in the Global South. We are an independent foundation with non-governmental status, but are part of and make use of the expertise of the Royal Kentalis group in the Netherlands.

Our goal is to make quality education accessible to all learners who are deaf and hard of hearing. We operate as a knowledge broker, linking the deafness and hard-of-hearing expertise of Royal Kentalis to the specific needs of our international partners, that include NGOs, universities, governments, and local organizations in our partner countries.

We use an integral, holistic and community-led approach to support children with hearing loss. Our programs range from parents sensitization and awareness workshops, to training programs on how to teach deaf learners how to read, how to screen and detect hearing loss, how to assess sign language development in children, and how hard-of-hearing children can be supported in regular classrooms.

By implementing a train-the-trainer approach and using blended learning, we aim for effective knowledge exchange and sustainable impact. Over the years, Kentalis International Foundation has been active in 15 countries. We currently focus on Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.
