About Interstitiële Cystitis
Interstitiële Cystitis (IC), ook wel blaaspijnsyndroom (BPS), is een chronische aandoening van de blaas die wordt veroorzaakt door een non-bacteriële ontsteking. De meest voorkomende symptomen zijn frequent en pijnlijk urineren, pijn in de onderbuik, een verhoogde aandrang en druk in de blaas of omliggende organen. Het merendeel van de patiënten bestaat uit vrouwen, maar de aandoening komt ook voor bij (oudere) mannen.
