About Home Soil Projects

Home Soil Projects develops site-responsive performance research for civic questions. We bring artists, institutions, and communities together to investigate how embodied and collective practices can activate social justice.

Our work takes shape through Civic Performance Labs, Practice-as-Research Sessions, and a body of performances, participatory encounters, installations, and digital projects. Using movement, writing, dialogue, listening, autoethnography, and collective scoring, participants connect critical questions to lived experience and help shape what is created.

Each collaboration begins with a question connected to a place, its communities, and its wider public. The research may develop into a participatory performance, shared meal, workshop, walk, installation, listening environment, assembly, or collectively narrated work. Consent, access, and participant agency guide both the process and its documentation.

Projects have explored environmental justice and belonging; migration, sanctions, and community building; displacement and housing insecurity; diasporic and intergenerational relationships; multilingualism and care; queer visibility and bodily autonomy; and gender equality.

With more than a decade of international experience, Home Soil Projects collaborates with museums, theaters, universities, art schools, festivals, community organizations, and interdisciplinary research groups seeking thoughtful ways to connect performance, education, and civic engagement.
