Furthermore, FSA collaborates with Universities, Local Authorities, devlopers and NGO's in knowledge driven projects: The FSA is a project, conceived in the Netherlands, performing sustainability assessments of remarkable and innovative area developments worldwide. For each assessment, FSA sets up a case-study team consisting of representatives of the local authorities, students from (local) universities or research centers, and local businesses. All three parties have different interests, but what they all benefit from is the fact that by working together, they are able to see the sustainable environment that they are part of. FSA uses a compact assessment tool, based on the BREEAM-NL framework for area development, complemented with LEED-ND and Estidama for community developments. FSA has received a subsidy from the Dutch government for the development of this framework. FSA has performed such assessments for Amsterdam Zuidas, Malmö Vastra Hammen, Vancouver UniverCity, Antwerp Bluegate and London Kking's Cross. We are in the process of establishing such a case-study team for Abu Dhabi Masdar City and the future Olympic area in Brazil.
