After the domestication of plants and animals, we now possess the technology to domesticate cells to manufacture the products we consume on Earth. Whether it’s food, chemicals, materials, or medicine, biotechnology enables us to produce these goods, sustainably, using microorganisms and mammalian cells.

To successfully create and scale a novel bioprocess, you need to start with the end in mind: what technical performance do you need from your strain, substrate, and equipment to allow you to sell your product at a competitive price in the long run? What does your facility need to look like to extract maximum performance out of your microorganism? Or, the other way around, what should your microorganism look like to optimally fit your facility?

At Formical, we provide a bioprocess data platform to help accelerate biotech R&D using three pillars: - Automation: to free up cognitive space and speed up iteration - Integration: to connect silos in data, processes, and teams - Virtualization: to ‘fail fast’ and prevent expensive physical mistakes

Using our platform you create a unified overview of both upstream and downstream bioprocessing. We can connect Formical to all equipment to automate data collection and integration, to save 8-25 hours per week per engineer in manual data processing. Improving data management using Formical effectively improves data quality and thereby also the quality of analyses, simulations and AI models. With this, we help implement process optimizations and shorten R&D cycles.
