About European Master in Law AND Economics
The European Master in Law and Economics (EMLE) provides an experience lauded as “an outstanding educational concept” which synthesizes law and economics together into a programme that is both manageable in its structure and innovative in its design. This programme fosters an atmosphere of internationality through its students and its universities, which provides learning experience for its scholars and is a desirable trait for future employers. The combination of law and economics creates an environment of idea sharing and introduces different techniques for examining and handling problems. EMLE is forging a path in producing future lawyers and economists equipped with an interdisciplinary background ready to handle the multidimensional challenges of European and international business and law.
The EMLE programme is divided into three terms, two of which have to be spent at different universities. Our consortium partners consist of Haifa, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Ghent, Aix-Provence, Barcelona, Rome, Mumbai, and Warsaw. While in the first term the courses are the same across all universities, specialization starts in the second term with two specialized courses per track. The third term finalizes the chosen specialization with two more courses, and the final thesis written under supervision of a professor from the third term university.
The EMLE has been recognized by the EACEA of the European Commission as an Erasmus Mundus: Erasmus+ Master's programme under the first (2004-2008), second (2009-2015), third (2015-2018) and fourth (2018-2022) edition. With this, the programme was added to the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) Catalogue, a predicate of excellence of the Erasmus+ funding scheme of the European Commission. Besides, the EMLE programme has been accredited according to the European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes since 2019 onwards.
