About Economics Committee

EconCo is one of the scholarly oriented committees in University College Utrecht. Our goal is to demystify the subject of economics and bridge the gap between theory and real life applications. As our college is relatively small with limited classes and options to study, we aim to enrich the possibilities for any student interested in economics. In light of the school’s liberal arts and sciences structure, we hope to approach the subject cross-disciplinarily to engage as many students as possible. We blend the educational, such as lectures, with the interactive and social, such as games and film screenings. Using these strategies, we introduce and familiarize students in economics in a way that is exciting and empowering. Our main goal is to try to make economics accessible not only for economics-major and prospective master students, but also for students who have less direct affiliation with this subject. For them, EconCo lowers the threshold to get acquainted with economics.
