About Dutch Association of Data Protection Officers NGFG

Professional Association for Data Protection Officers. We support DPOs in performing their DPO function, promote the quality of the profession and represent the collective interests of the professional group from the role of authoritative discussion partner.

DPOs excel in diversity. They work in all possible sectors and therefore also have to deal with a wide variety of data. They are primarily the supervisor of the application of and compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). And although many organizations have now appointed a data protection officer (whether or not because this is required by law in certain situations), this does not mean that the manager, management, supervisory board, etc. are actually waiting for the advice of a DPO.

Practicing the profession of DPO can therefore sometimes be a 'lonely' affair with only a few sparring partners. On top of that the DPO profession is constantly evolving due to continuous developments in legislation, case law and best practices. DPOs therefore have a great need for a network, for clarity and guidance for the proper performance of their duties, for developing their own performance and for learning how to communicate well with all layers of their organization.

NGFG is committed to meeting these needs. For example, it organizes knowledge events, networking drinks several times a year and seeks to join larger-scale conferences and events. This year (2023) we will launch two pilots, namely:

* a pilot for facilitating network meetings (both sectoral and regional) * and a pilot for intervision and mentoring.

In addition, the possibilities are being investigated to develop a DPO register in cooperation with several partners.

And this is just a small selection of all the ambitions that the NGFG has...
