The world is facing an important problem of scarcity of food. This in itself is not a new phenomenon. In the past, food price increases have been followed by a strong increase in the supply thereof, resulting in a price leveling effect.

Now the situation is essentially different; the production sector is influenced by certain limitations. There is less agricultural land available and in the western world there is no more major benefit to be gained from production and efficiency improvement. The productivity levels in these well developed countries are at 80% of possible production per hectare, while these levels in developing countries are between 30-40 %. This means that production increase can be substantial.

Through the acquisition, development and improvement of agricultural projects, Dutch Agricultural Technology (D.A.T.) is focussed on minimising this productivity gap. With smart capital, implementation of innovations and transfer of knowledge a sustainable yield and healthy return on investment can be achieved.
