About CTIF Commission for Extrication and New Technology
The CTIF Commission for Extrication and New Technology brings together fire and rescue services worldwide to address the challenges of modern rescue operations. As alternative propulsion vehicles, energy storage systems, and smart technologies evolve at high speed, collaboration and knowledge sharing are more vital than ever.
Our work is focused on three key areas: - Extrication & Road Safety - Energy Storage Systems (ESS) - Smart Tech
Rescue services face new realities: the rapid rise of electric and alternative propulsion vehicles, the growing use of drones and robots in operations, and the increasing presence of solar panels, batteries, and self-driving cars. These developments make rescue work more complex—and demand new solutions.
The most dangerous phrase in rescue services remains: “We’ve always done it this way.”
That is why we promote cooperation between fire and emergency services across the globe. By sharing experiences internationally, we strengthen the safety of both citizens and first responders. The more we learn from one another, the better prepared we are.
The Commission consists of representatives from fire brigades across Europe and meets twice a year to exchange knowledge, develop strategies, and drive innovation.
Our philosophy is clear: only with a strong flow of information about products, installations, and operations can we establish effective rules and share knowledge efficiently.
Together, we innovate to protect lives.
