At Counselr, we bring people together.

We help internationals, expats and highly skilled migrants in the Netherlands find the right legal support - in a language they understand, and in a way that feels safe.

Moving to a new country is exciting. Legal problems usually aren’t. They can feel overwhelming.

Employment problems. Family matters. Rental disputes. Business questions. Suddenly you’re not just navigating Dutch law - you’re navigating it in a different language and culture.

That’s where we step in.

Counselr was founded by Sabine Imdahl, a Dutch lawyer and mediator who moved to the Netherlands as an expat herself.

The idea for the platform didn’t come from a spreadsheet. It grew from lived experience: navigating legal systems abroad and later the Dutch system as a newcomer. Through that experience, one thing became clear:

access to justice should not depend on the language you speak or where you come from.
