About ChildProof

I’m Dr. Eline de Vries — an academic, consultant, and mother to a spirited two-year-old, from The Netherlands. Throughout my international travels as a university professor, I’ve stayed in countless hotels across various countries, price ranges, and brands. Yet time and again, I encountered the same issue: hotel rooms are rarely designed with babies or young children in mind.

Just during the first year of my daughter’s life, I came across baby cots without a bottom (!), beds with soft pillows and thick duvets unsuitable for infants, unsafe bed bumpers, unanchored furniture, accessible electrical outlets, and more. Shockingly, these issues weren’t limited to budget options — even renowned international hotel chains fell short of basic safety standards.

That’s why I founded ChildProof: to help hotels create safer environments for their youngest guests and to give parents the peace of mind that they deserve when traveling.

Through our expert consultancy and Kids Sleep Safe (KiSS) Certification, we offer hotels a clear, research-based framework to make their rooms infant- and child-safe — starting with beds and bedding, and extending to room layout, furniture, and equipment.

Our KiSS certification is more than a badge. It is the promise that a hotel room meets the highest standards of safety, comfort, and quality for children. Ultimately, KiSS Certification is a win-win situation, hotels can gain competitive advantage by distinguishing themselves, while guests can be rest assured that their little ones sleep safe.
