Relationships are difficult. Our first relationship is with our parents. We mimic what we see, hear and feel - some of us are neglected, others are used for emotional dumping. Some of us are emotionally, physically or sexually abused. If this is what we learn a loving relationship feels like, it is easy to see why our adult relationships can feel challenging.

It’s estimated that 42% of the Western population has suffered one or more of these types of abuse. Quite a lot, right?

Whilst talking therapies can be helpful to relieve some of the pressure we feel and help us come up with a practical plan for daily living, it can't heal our childhood wounds. That's because language sits in the language centre of the brain (located in the neo-frontal cortex) whilst our childhood wounds are stored in our animal brain (also called the limbic system). That's why it's technically impossible to ‘talk our way out of attachment wounds’.

At Avalon, we’re designing an online peer-support program to help you heal childhood wounds and develop a new approach to relationships and communication. Upon starting the work, you'll start to feel that you can relate to the world around you from a place of inner wholeness, and make the best decisions for yourself. So you can become yourself, your full self and nothing but yourself.
